    Principal’s Message:

    Welcome back, everyone!

While the beginning of Christmas break was quite some time ago (31 days ago!), I do truly hope that you had a wonderful time celebrating the birth of Jesus. My family was able to have a quiet, yet fulfilling Christmas. We were able to enjoy some good food, entertain some of our family in our home, and watch a lot of TV (as it was too cold to do much else!). With that said, I did manage to get three rounds of virtual golf in before the announcement from Alberta Education brought me back to reality a little early!

While I know there are many opinions on the extension for students, all I can say is that we were so glad to welcome your child(ren) back this week! As we move forward in January, it is my hope and prayer that you and your family stay safe, healthy, and excited to be back in school within our community.

I look forward to seeing many of you in the parking lot soon! I hope you get a chuckle out of the below picture, and that your house wasn’t feeling too much like the middle left of the picture!

Kindergarten/New Student Registration Opens Wednesday, January 19, 2022

Kindergarten and new student 2022-2023 registration will be open on January 19. We give preference to current Covenant families before opening registration up to the general public. If you are a current Covenant family and have a child who will be attending kindergarten in the fall, please contact the office at 780-986-8353 or [email protected] before January 19 to ensure your spot.

Preschool Registration is OPEN for CCS Families ONLY

Preschool registration is now open for current Covenant families ONLY.  Each year we offer our current CCS families the opportunity to claim a spot for preschool by registering their children before opening up registration to the general public. If you have a child ready for preschool, please click here and complete the form by January 30 to secure your spot.

Please DO NOT share the above link with anyone outside our CCS community at this time.

There will be a Preschool Spring Information Night on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 7 pm. Beginning February 8 at 10:00 am, registration will be open to the general public. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lisa Gatzke at [email protected] or Amber Falk at [email protected].

    CTF Term 2 Options Fees

Term 2 CTF Options classes will begin when students have returned from the extended break. Before the break, students picked which options classes they would like to participate in. Fees for their chosen courses have been added to your child’s PowerSchool account. Please take a minute to login and make payment in the coming weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school office.

    CCS Edmonton Oilers Game!!

Covenant Christian School is thrilled to share a special opportunity to build community with all of you! CCS has accepted an invitation from the Oilers Entertainment Group to block off a section of reduced-price tickets for the Oilers game on January 20! Gather your friends and family and join in on the excitement, while taking advantage of our group rate, as the Oilers take on the league-leading Florida Panthers! Purchase your tickets early. These tickets would make a great Christmas gift too! See the image below for more details! There are only 2 tickets left at $72.00 and only 46 at $87.00, they are going quickly.

At this point, this game has NOT been canceled. IF the game should get canceled, we are assuming we would get a rescheduled game to attend.

    Celebration

We continue to do weekly virtual assemblies, which we call Celebration. Celebration will be held on Thursdays for the month of January.

Please click on the button below to join us tomorrow morning!

    Lost & Found

In order to continue to limit the number of visitors in the school this year, we will continue to post a photo of our Lost & Found each week in the Chronicle. If you see an item that is your child’s, please have them pick it up the next day or email the office and we will make sure it gets home with them. We will only be holding items until the next Chronicle.

    Athletics:

    Basketball

Practices will be held this week and continue for the next while. However, games will be postponed at this time.

If your child is on one of the basketball teams, please complete the permission form on PowerSchool. That being said, you do not need to make payment at this time as we are uncertain as to what the season will look like this year. We will keep you posted.

    LSCE Update:

Special Society Meeting March 8 (save the date): – We are planning to hold a special meeting of the Society on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 7:30 pm (instead of February 8, as originally planned). Odds & Ends:

    Sign In/Out Form:

In an effort to reduce the amount of shared touched surfaces, we will be using a QR code that you will need to scan with your phone for signing in and out of the school. You can also use this link if you are in your vehicle and need to sign out a student but can’t scan the code. This means that students/parents/visitors can scan the QR code when entering or leaving the office/school to sign in or sign out on their own phone/device.

Parents will also be able to sign their kids out from their vehicle in the parking lot when they arrive to pick them up for appts. etc. please use the link above if you can’t scan the QR code. We do ask that parents pull into a spot (not bus lane) where you can contact the office to let them know you have arrived and we can make eye contact with you
from the staff/office door. Students must also stop by the office before leaving the school. At that point, once a connection is made, we are able to send students out to you.
