    Principal’s Message:

I know we are all wondering about what next week holds for our kiddos, and I must tell you the staff at CCS has been doing the same. We have taken this first half of the week and began planning for both in person and online learning, no easy feat. I want to once again thank our staff for their willingness to do whatever they can to best be prepared for our kids.

Although I joked on our social media saying this is yet another pivot (thank you, Ross, from “Friends”), planning for two different methods of teaching is more than a pivot, it truly is a completely different way of instruction, and the time and effort is truly astonishing. Now the part we all have been awaiting: I have just stepped out of a meeting with our senior administration and we will be back in classes on Monday! This is extremely exciting, although we do need to make sure our school is as safety conscious as possible too.

We will contine many of the safety procedures we have worked on all year, focusing on our masking for 4-9 and staff, air purifiers in our rooms being on, frequent handwashing and cohorting in our elementary for classes and breaks.
This will be balanced to ensure that our students get a true school experience and will continue with many of those additional things like field trips which help support students’ mental wellness.

The Covenant staff will continue to put the safety of your children and the rest of our staff as our top priority. Thank you for journeying this path with us!

I look forward to seeing you in the parking lot come Monday! (Hopefully it won’t be -40C)!

    CCS Edmonton Oilers Game!!

Covenant Christian School is thrilled to share a special opportunity to build community with all of you! CCS has accepted an invitation from the Oilers Entertainment Group to block off a section of reduced-price tickets for the Oilers game on January 20! Gather your friends and family and join in on the excitement, while taking advantage of our group rate, as the Oilers take on the league-leading Florida Panthers! Purchase your tickets early. These tickets would make a great Christmas gift too! See the image below for more details! There are only 2 tickets left at $72.00 and only 46 at $87.00, they are going quickly.

At this point, this game has NOT been canceled. IF the game should get canceled, we are assuming we would get a rescheduled game to attend.

    Celebration

We continue to do weekly virtual assemblies, which we call Celebration. Celebration will be held on Thursdays for the month of January. We will begin our Celebration time next week, Thursday, January 13.

A button link for Celebration will be in each Chronicle for you to join us!

    Lost & Found

In order to continue to limit the number of visitors in the school this year, we will continue to post a photo of our Lost & Found each week in the Chronicle. If you see an item that is your child’s, please have them pick it up the next day or email the office and we will make sure it gets home with them. We will only be holding items until the next Chronicle.

All lost and found items that we had before Christmas have now been donated to a second-hand store. We will begin putting in pictures of items next week.

    Athletics:

    Basketball

Practices were canceled this week. They will hopefully resume next week

League games are scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.

    Odds & Ends:

    Sign In/Out Form:

In an effort to reduce the amount of shared touched surfaces, we will be using a QR code that you will need to scan with your phone for signing in and out of the school. You can also use this link if you are in your vehicle and need to sign out a student but can’t scan the code. This means that students/parents/visitors can scan the QR code when entering or leaving the office/school to sign in or sign out on their own phone/device.

Parents will also be able to sign their kids out from their vehicle in the parking lot when they arrive to pick them up for appts. etc. please use the link above if you can’t scan the QR code. We do ask that parents pull into a spot (not bus lane) where you can contact the office to let them know you have arrived and we can make eye contact with you
from the staff/office door. Students must also stop by the office before leaving the school. At that point, once a connection is made, we are able to send students out to you.
