Principal’s Message
On Monday, April 8th, our part of the country experienced a partial solar eclipse. While we changed our schedule a bit to make sure kids were not outside unsupervised (or less supervised, we always have staff outside during recess time), it allowed us to take part in something majestic.
Students and staff experienced the eclipse with simple safety glasses on Monday. It allowed us to take the shine out of the sun and allow us to see the event more clearly. While we did not experience the shock and awe of totality, we were able to stop and fully see the wonders of creation.
If you had your new family meeting with me (I believe almost all of our families have now), you heard me speak about being wonderstruck, and I often used the example of the sunrise. Well, after Monday’s space ballet, I have a new example. When I watched our students don their glasses, look up at the sky, and gasp unanimously, I got to see them wonderstruck by the beauty of creation, and in awe of His hand.
I am so grateful we got to experience this unique event as a community here at school! It was something I hope they never forget.
