Principal’s Message:
Today I am writing to you from a leadership conference in Banff. While it is always a beautiful location to enjoy creation, and see beauty, I think it means that much more this time as it is the first in-person conference I have been able to attend in just over two years.
The community and camaraderie that is occurring here has been unbelievable to watch and take part in. Principals and school leaders from across Canada and the world, have joined together to learn and collaborate together, and the feeling in the buildings is palpable. I have already taken so much in and am eager to get back to school and share some of the findings and reaffirmations I have gained over the last few days.
One of the things that was said in a session has really resonated with me. “You must show people your heart before you show them your hands.” The speaker was making the point that you need to show someone who you are before you can simply give information. I hope that this is something I have been able to do through these principal messages over the years.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Dragon’s Den – Facebook Live – Tomorrow
Launching a Grade 9 business is no small undertaking. For the Grade 9 students, much of their success will depend upon how they can secure venture capital to get their business off the ground.
Tomorrow, Thursday, April 14th at 1:10 pm, the Grade 9 students will gather to pitch their ideas and concepts in our 2022 CCS Dragons’ Den. They will have the opportunity to see if their business proposals have the right stuff to be competitive at the CCS Mini-Mall later this year. The better their project, the more you may choose to invest in their business.
You have an opportunity to watch the event on our Facebook Live page tomorrow afternoon. Look for the live link to drop at 1:10 pm tomorrow and tune in to see how our students do in the fierce den of the dragons!
Kindergarten Information Open House
We will be holding our Kindergarten Information Open House next week, Tuesday, April 19 at 7:00 pm.
If you have a child registered or are in the process of completing the registration or know someone who is interested in registering their child for kindergarten at Covenant in the fall, we would like to invite you to attend! We are thankful that restrictions have been lifted and we are able to hold this event in person! The evening will include information about our kindergarten program as well as a chance to meet the teachers and visit the classroom. We ask that you find childcare for your children as this evening is just for parents.
Please email [email protected] or call the school office (780-986-8353) to let us know if you are planning to attend.

Service Learning Project – His Story, My Part
Hi, my name is Julie Boyd and I am a grade 9 student at Covenant Christian School. This year in Language Arts, we were given a major project. We had to choose a problem in the world we were passionate about, I chose breast cancer. We also have to complete a service-learning activity. For my project, I have made coasters. These coasters have the cancer ribbon on them painted pink for breast cancer, light blue for prostate cancer, teal for ovarian cancer, purple for pancreatic cancer, white for lung cancer, and gray for brain cancer. The price of one coaster is $10, all proceeds will be donated to Hair Massacure. Hair Massacure is a mass head-shave in Alberta, raising funds to support children with life-threatening illnesses, along with cancer research. Please donate to help me reach the goal of $1,000. You can contact me by email at [email protected] or my mom’s phone number 780-203-2373.
Hot Lunch
Hot lunch forms will be changing slightly; we are going to move to weekly order forms. The deadline will generally be Tuesdays at midnight for the following week’s order. However, if there is a holiday, ie. spring break, this may change slightly. Deadlines for order/payment will always be listed on the order form.
School Council
We are planning to meet in person on the last Wednesday of April (27th) following Celebration. We hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please email Shauna Balehowsky, CCS School Council Chair, at [email protected].
Help Ukraine Bake & Craft Sale Project – Grade 6CS
Our Grade 6 students closely follow current events and are compelled to serve. The Bible leaves no doubt that Christian lives must be lives of justice. It is the first requirement listed in answer to Micah’s question, “What does the Lord require of you? To do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8) After they reflected on the injustices that children in Ukraine are faced with, they decided to take the initiative to raise awareness about the war in Ukraine, to hold a fundraiser, and to cover the world in prayer.
Students have collaborated to create a Justice-Seeking plan called Help Ukraine. The culmination of this project is a Bake and Craft sale that will be held on Thursday, April 14th. Please consider sending money with your child on Thursday to participate in the bake/craft sale. Most baked items, such as cinnamon buns and cookies etc will be $1-$3 and craft items will be $5-$10.
Celebration
We are excited to be moving back to in-person assemblies, this includes Celebration! Celebration will be held on Wednesdays for the month of April. We had our last virtual Celebration assembly this morning. We will be holding Celebration in person next Wednesday, April 20. All parents are welcome to join us!!

We will continue to post a photo of our Lost & Found each week in the Chronicle. If you see an item that is your child’s, please have them pick it up the next day or email the office and we will make sure it gets home with them.

LSCE Update:
CCS Golf Tournament – Sunday, June 26, 2022
Registration has now opened for our 2022 Covenant Christian School Golf Tournament! For those who came to our first annual event, you know that it was a ton of fun! With Roger Anderson and his crew of 4 sneaking away with the lowest score on the challenging Leduc Golf Course, the only question is, will they go back-to-back!?
We are aiming for 144 golfers to join us and take part in an afternoon that is filled with prizes, giveaways, and hopefully some bad golf! Mr. Simmons will once again be willing to take a shot for you on one of the Par 3’s (he promises to try not to put so many people in the sand this time), and we are working on getting another hole in one prize again too! Not to mention, we will once again have the opportunity to win a year of free tuition, just be closest to the pin on our 100-yard challenge (taking place immediately after all teams finish, and before supper!)
If you want to sign up as a player, or if you would like to take on a sponsorship opportunity, please check out our website found HERE! for more details!

Sign In/Out Form:
In an effort to reduce the amount of shared touched surfaces, we will be using a QR code that you will need to scan with your phone for signing in and out of the school. You can also use this link if you are in your vehicle and need to sign out a student but can’t scan the code. This means that students/parents/visitors can scan the QR code when entering or leaving the office/school to sign in or sign out on their own phone/device.
Parents will also be able to sign their kids out from their vehicle in the parking lot when they arrive to pick them up for appts. etc. please use the link above if you can’t scan the QR code. We do ask that parents pull into a spot (not bus lane) where you can contact the office to let them know you have arrived and we can make eye contact with you
from the staff/office door. Students must also stop by the office before leaving the school. At that point, once a connection is made, we are able to send students out to you.
