Mr. Simmons Reads a Bedtime Story!
All kids, big and small, can tune in on Facebook at 7:45 pm on Tuesday evening, August 29 at 7:45 pm to hear Mr. Simmons read his annual back-to-school bedtime story! This year’s book is aptly called “Mr. S.”

First Chronicle for this School Year!
Welcome to our weekly newsletter, The Chronicle! We will send it out via email weekly on Wednesdays. As next week is the first day of school, and it will be a VERY busy one…we will not have a Chronicle sent out that day, the next one will be Wednesday, September 6.
First Day of School
The first day of school for all students in grades 1-9 is Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 8:35 am.
Students in Kindergarten in the Monday/Wednesday program will begin on Wednesday, August 30. This is a staggered entry/orientation day, not a full day of school. You will receive an email from Mrs. Vande Kraats with more details regarding time and what this all entails.
Students in Kindergarten in the Tuesday/Thursday program will begin on Thursday, August 31. This is a staggered entry/orientation day, not a full day of school. You will receive an email from Mrs. Luchak with more details regarding time and what this all entails.
As has also become a tradition at CCS, we will be taking “First Day of School” pictures again this year!! We will snap a quick pic of your kiddo on their first day of school as a keepsake for you! Your child’s homeroom teacher will send you a digital copy of the photo once they have been uploaded to them.
Welcome Back BBQ – Tuesday, August 29
We are excited to host our Welcome Back BBQ again this year! Everyone is welcome to join us for supper from 4:30-6:30 pm, on Tuesday, August 29. Come enjoy some food, meet your child(ren)’s teacher(s) and see their classrooms, reconnect with old friends, and make new friends in our CCS community!
Celebration
We hold weekly assemblies, which we call Celebration. We alternate between Wednesday and Thursday mornings each month so our kindergarten students are each able to join us every other month.
Our first Celebration Assembly will be held on Wednesday, August 30 at 9:00 am. All parents are welcome to join us to kick off the new school year!
Celebration will be held on THURSDAYS for the month of September.
Junior High Retreat – September 13 & 14
Our annual junior high retreat will be held on September 13 and 14 this year with Mr. Jeremy Horlings from the PCCE as our guest speaker! We will need parent volunteers and drivers for this event! If you are planning to attend, please contact the office or your child’s homeroom teacher to let them know. You will also need to provide us with a Vulnerable Sector Check as well as an Intervention Record Check. Please contact the office if you require instructions on how to obtain them.
Lost & Found
We will post weekly pictures of our lost and found. If you see something that is your child’s, please have them stop by the table and pick it up or let the office know. All unclaimed items will be donated to a second-hand store at the end of each month.

We look forward to another exciting year of sports ahead!

Please use the above QR code, orthis link, to sign your child in or out from the building. You can also come into the school and use the Chromebook provided in the office. Please make sure to let the office know you have collected your child before leaving the parking lot (phone call/eye contact) and ask your child to check in at the office when they enter or leave. This ensures everyone is accounted for appropriately in the case of an emergency.
