In our halls, excitement’s in the air,
For ’90s day is nearly here, so rare!
As principal, it’s my favorite theme,
A blast from the past, like a vivid dream.
On Tuesday, February 6th, mark the date,
Bring out those trends, don’t hesitate!
From grunge to neon, and everything between,
The ’90s spirit, so vibrant and keen.
I can’t wait to see the students’ delight,
As they dress up, oh, what a sight!
Baggy jeans, flannel shirts, and scrunchies galore,
The nostalgia hits me, right to the core.
Remembering the days of cassette tapes,
And dial-up internet, with all its escapes.
The Spice Girls’ tunes and boy bands in sync,
Each memory cherished, it’s how we link.
From Pogs and Slammers to Game Boys in hand,
A simpler time, oh, so grand!
The joy of Tamagotchis, ever so sweet,
In this retro world, where memories meet.
So let’s embrace the ’90s, with all its flair,
On Tuesday, February 6th, the kids (and staff!) share.
As principal, I’m thrilled, can’t you see?

📣 Introducing the Cougar Canteen! 🐾🍬
We are delighted to announce an exciting new venture at CCS – The Cougar Canteen! The Cougar Canteen isn’t just about snacks; it’s an empowering project designed to equip our students with essential life skills.
Operating Details:
🗓️ The Cougar Canteen will be available 1x/month for each division (announced in each week’s Chronicle).
🕰️ The Cougar Canteen will be open during morning recess (10:10-10:22) on Thursdays.
💰 If students wish to purchase a snack, $1-$5 is plenty!

Preschool Registration
Preschool Registration is open for existing Covenant families only until January 31, 2024. If you have a student attending CCS in grades K-9 and have a student who will be 4 years old by December 31, 2024, you may register them for our Preschool program here. THIS IS FOR CCS FAMILIES ONLY, please do not share this link. More information is below.

ESPORTS Tryouts
The tryout for Esports will be held after school on Tuesday, February 6 until 5:00 pm. This tryout is for students who have already signed up for it.

Student-Led Conferences – February 22
Save the date! We will be holding Student-Led Conferences this year on Thursday, February 22 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the student’s homeroom. Stay tuned to future Chronicles for more details.
BGSD Board Highlights
The Board Highlights are a summary of our Board of Trustee meetings to communicate pertinent information to our staff, school councils, parents, students, and stakeholders. To be environmentally friendly, paper copies are not provided to the schools and School Council Chairs. The minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees are also posted on our Division website.
Spring Program Prop Request
We are now preparing for Aladdin Jr, which will be performed on March 20-21, 2024 at the MacLab Theatre here in Leduc.
We have started many projects but need some community assistance in preparing for the performance. Please help in the following ways.
- Costumes – A few parents are already working on dresses and costumes. We need a few more individuals who would like to design costumes for our cast, including pieces for our feature numbers.
- Construction and Painting – We have our Grade 8 parents working on sets, but we could always use more people to create, design, and build!

Hot Lunch
Hot Lunches are on Wednesdays.
You can find the forms for Hot Lunch in your student’s PowerSchool account under the Student Fees and Forms heading on the left-hand side. Orders will close on the Tuesday prior to the following week’s hot lunch at 11:59 pm. All orders must be placed online, and payment must be made with form submission to be processed. (No cash or cheques are accepted). Please check your email for a confirmation receipt to ensure that your order went through.

Celebration
We hold weekly assemblies, which we call Celebration. We alternate between Wednesday and Thursday mornings each month so our kindergarten students are each able to join us every other month.
Celebration will be held on Wednesdays for the month of February.
Lost & Found
We will post weekly pictures of our lost and found. If you see something that is your child’s, please have them stop by the table and pick it up or let the office know.
All unclaimed items will be donated to a second-hand TOMORROW.

Junior High Boys Basketball:
Basketball practice after school on Tuesdays from 3:30 until 5:00 pm.
The boys have a HOME game TODAY at 4:00 pm at CCS! Come on out and cheer our team on!
Junior High Girls Basketball:
Basketball practice after school on Mondays from 3:30 until 5:00 pm.
The girls have a league home game on Tuesday, February 6 right after school at CCS. Come out and cheer them on!
Elementary Girls Basketball:
The girls had their final basketball tournament last weekend and came in fourth after a buzzer-beater loss in the bronze medal game. Congratulations, team!

Please use the above QR code, orthis link, to sign your child in or out of the building. You can also come into the school and use the Chromebook provided in the office. Please make sure to let the office know you have collected your child before leaving the parking lot (phone call/eye contact) and ask your child to check in at the office when they enter or leave. This ensures everyone is accounted for appropriately in the case of an emergency.
