    Principal’s Message

I am excited to share with you a new initiative at our school that I believe will benefit our students both physically and mentally – the “Polar Bear” Club. This club is being created to encourage students who wish to embrace God’s creation, even in colder temperatures, and provides an alternative to indoor recess when weather conditions permit.

Research consistently shows the numerous benefits of outdoor play, even in more extreme temperatures. Exposure to fresh air and natural light has been linked to improved mood, increased focus, and enhanced overall well-being in children. Additionally, outdoor play supports the development of gross motor skills, creativity, and social interactions. Understanding these advantages, we want to offer our students the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities, provided it is safe to do so.

The decision to allow outdoor recess is carefully considered, taking into account various factors beyond just temperature. While a general guideline for calling indoor recess is around -25 degrees Celsius, our decision is also influenced by wind chill, precipitation, and other weather conditions. The safety and well-being of our students are of utmost importance, and we assure you that responsible judgment will be exercised in determining when outdoor activities are suitable. With that said, as we live in Canada when we are dressed for the outdoors, it can safely be enjoyed, thus the “Polar Bear” club!

We will soon be sending out a form on PowerSchool for you to sign (or not!). If you would like your child to participate, please make sure you also talk to your child, as we want kiddos who actually want to be outside to participate. We want them to think of it as a reward, not a punishment.

More information will come out soon, but I am really excited about the possibility.

    Spring Program Prop Request

We are now preparing for Aladdin Jr, which will be performed on March 20-21, 2024 at the MacLab Theatre here in Leduc.

We have started many projects but need some community assistance in preparing for the performance. Please help in the following ways.

    1. Costumes – A few parents are already working on dresses and costumes. We need a few more individuals who would like to design costumes for our cast, including pieces for our feature numbers.
    2. Construction and Painting – We have our Grade 8 parents working on sets, but we could always use more people to create, design, and build!
    3. Props – Please click on this link to view the list of needed props. If you have any of the items we could use, we’d be grateful for your help.

Please email Mr. Ward at [email protected] if you want to join the team!
