    Principal’s Message:

This week our Grade 9 students are participating in their “His Story, My Part” (HSMP) projects. This is an incredibly vast assignment. It challenges students to pick a topic they are passionate about, learn about it, volunteer in a way that helps the cause, and then makes them present the topic to not only their classmates, but to parents, trustees, teachers, and other students. The project has been around for over twenty years and truly pushes kids out of their comfort zone. While this can be difficult for some, it truly has created some unbelievable stories.

Recently, I read a quote from Donald Miller, and it made me think of the project: “If I have a hope, it’s that God sat over the dark nothing and wrote you and me, specifically, into the story and put us in with the sunset and the rainstorm as though to say, enjoy your place in my story. The beauty of it means you matter, and you can create within it even as I have created you. Every day you live is a page. Every year, a chapter. Your life, a book. What is it about?”

I loved the thought – What is it about? Soon after I read this, I was speaking to our BGSD Superintendent Bill Romanchuk, and we were discussing his time as principal at Leduc Composite High School. I asked him about Covenant students as they come over. He said that generally, he had found them to have an incredible understanding of social justice, and their drive and willingness to be a change in the world was obvious. I couldn’t help but think of the HSMP projects, as well as some of the Social Studies projects (Mini-Mall, etc) that we do at CCS. By connecting God’s bigger story to the things we do in class, I truly believe that it helps our students move on to serve in our greater community.

I know that some of these assignments can be difficult (for parents too), but please know that they are helping enable students’ ability to build God’s Kingdom once they leave our building.

    2W Kindness Project

2W has been learning about the power of kindness through Bible stories and in-class learning. We feel inspired and want to do something to colour God’s world with a little more kindness.

We are selling handmade tie-dye t-shirts for $15. They will feature our class storyline: Coloured with Kindness. We want to sell at least 100 shirts.

We will use the money to buy art supplies and then create handmade board games and playing cards.

These games and cards will be gifted to a group of people who we think could use some extra kindness in their lives: seniors who live in seniors residences. Our hope is this will bring them happiness and joy and help them to feel less alone.

T-shirts can be purchased through the order form on PowerSchool until Friday, March 24th.

    Preschool Registration

    Sign In/Out Form:

In an effort to reduce the amount of shared touched surfaces, we will be using a QR code that you will need to scan with your phone for signing in and out of the school. You can also use this link if you are in your vehicle and need to sign out a student but can’t scan the code. This means that students/parents/visitors can scan the QR code when entering or leaving the office/school to sign in or sign out on their own phone/device.

Parents will also be able to sign their kids out from their vehicle in the parking lot when they arrive to pick them up for appts. etc. please use the link above if you can’t scan the QR code. We do ask that parents pull into a spot (not bus lane) where you can contact the office to let them know you have arrived and we can make eye contact with you
from the staff/office door. Students must also stop by the office before leaving the school. At that point, once a connection is made, we are able to send students out to you.
