Principal’s Message:
As the sun is shining through my window, I started to sense my brain looking forward to those long spring and summer days. For me, that means I will try to golf as much as possible, but I know for many of you, you are dreading the thought of your kiddos saying those ugly words they sometimes do. Of course, I am alluding to – “Mommmm, Dadddd, I’m bored!” Therefore, I wanted to compile a short list of skills you can teach your children that are not only fun but will help them out in the future!
1) Read a tape measure
2) Tie a tie
3) Use a drill
4) Mash potatoes from scratch
5) Check the oil in your car
6) Turn off the water on a faucet
7) Address an envelope
8) Sew a button
9) Iron clothes
10) Start a “safe” campfire
11) Strip the end of a wire
12) Throw a frisbee
13) Set a mousetrap
14) Change a flat tire
15) Siphon gas with a hose
16) Change a spark plug on a small engine (lawn mower)
17) Learn the books of the Bible
18) Change out a faucet
19) Hook up a trailer
20) Count back change
21) Change a bike tire
22) Clean a dryer exhaust
23) Drive a stick shift
24) Pick good produce
25) Check the sump pump
While this isn’t an exhaustive list, I think it can be a helpful one as we try to help our kiddos with life skills. As always, this isn’t a checklist of things you need to do, and it varies on age and abilities!

Stable Table – Question of the Week
Congratulations to the Meakin Family for their winning entry to last week’s question: In honour of grandparents day, what single item reminds you of your grandparents? No explanation necessary. Their response was one a lot of us can identify with! “Vintage Corelle Dinnerware with the classic brown/tan decorative flowers around the edge. My grandparents got these dishes at their wedding and it’s lasted the years. At every meal, big or small I remember these dishes. Along with that would be a Tupperware cup.“
At supper this week, talk about what your favourite family recipe is!
Please fill in the form below with your answer to this week’s question for a chance to win a prize!

Mini Mall is Coming! – May 18, 2023
We hope you will join us for Covenant Christian Grade 9 Mini-Mall! Our Mini-Mall has been an annual school-wide community event. It combines the Grade 9s learning in Social Studies on Economics with a fund-raising opportunity for their graduation by creating a mini-business to sell products to other students.
This year we are operating Mini-Mall in-person. You can also preview items on the Mini-Mall Market Webpage, which will be available in the Chronicle soon, with your child, you can look through the catalogue and engage in meaningful conversation about financial literacy, budgeting, stewardship, and consumerism.
The students’ products will be available on Thursday, May 18 from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Homeroom teachers will be escorting children through the mini-mall at that time. Parents are also welcome to join us at the school for this event. Tickets will be purchased through your child’s Powerschool Account. Tickets are available in books of 20 tickets for $5. Most items cost between 4-12 tickets ($1.00-$3.00). No cash will be accepted or tickets refunded. All ticket purchases must be made through PowerSchool by NOON on May 17, 2023

Sign In/Out Form:
In an effort to reduce the amount of shared touched surfaces, we will be using a QR code that you will need to scan with your phone for signing in and out of the school. You can also use this link if you are in your vehicle and need to sign out a student but can’t scan the code. This means that students/parents/visitors can scan the QR code when entering or leaving the office/school to sign in or sign out on their own phone/device.
Parents will also be able to sign their kids out from their vehicle in the parking lot when they arrive to pick them up for appts. etc. please use the link above if you can’t scan the QR code. We do ask that parents pull into a spot (not bus lane) where they can contact the office to let them know you have arrived and we can make eye contact with you
from the staff/office door. Students must also stop by the office before leaving the school. At that point, once a connection is made, we are able to send students out to you.
