Principal’s Message:
As we come back from our first “November break,” it truly is my hope and prayer that you and your family were able to take at least some time to rest and renew. I know that while I was much better at preaching the ‘renew/refresh’ anthem to our staff, I did quite enjoy the time with my family regardless of my sleep patterns. We were able to get some things done around the house, do some fun kid-centered activities, and I even got to play a round of virtual golf in there!
I know when the school schedule came out, and this “November break” thing was put in, I didn’t know if I would be a fan. I thought that it would be better served in February or something: but for this year, at this time, it was integral in allowing all of our school staff to get through to Christmas.
In Ecclesiastes, it says there is a time for everything, and I think this November break was a season to rest for our school staff.
I hope you rested as well.
Announcements:
Winter Weather Attire
Well, we knew it had to happen eventually! After a mild October, winter has found us. This means that we need to bundle up to enjoy being outdoors at breaks, as well as being safe on bus rides to and from school! Earlier this week, we noticed there were a number of students who were not properly dressed for the weather. As fresh air and a body break outside are very beneficial to our students and their ability to sit and learn throughout the day, we want to make sure all are dressed appropriately and able to be outdoors. For those that ride the bus, it is important that they are dressed appropriately in case of a breakdown or other delays. Please make sure to send your student with snow pants, warm boots, mittens, toque, scarf, and winter jacket. Having an extra pair of pants or socks tucked in their backpack/locker for times their clothes may get a little wet would be a great idea too! Thank you for helping our kids get outside and enjoy God’s creation!
School Directory
Good news! We have received 100% of our Verification Forms!! Thank you for your cooperation in getting this task completed! As such, we will begin working on our school directory. This is a complimentary service we provide each year for our school community. The directory will be digital again this year. If you do not want your address or phone number included in the directory, please let the office know by emailing [email protected] before Wednesday, November 24. Our hope is to have it completed and sent out within the next week or two.
Extra Lunch/Snack Needs
We have seen a large increase in the number of students coming for extra lunch and snack items throughout the week. Please ensure your child has enough lunch and snacks to get them through the day. Students do not learn well when they are hungry. As more than one student has been quoted ” learning makes me HUNGRY! I am STARVING!”
Celebration
We continue to do weekly virtual assemblies, which we call Celebration. Celebration will be held on Thursdays for the month of November.
Please click Here to join us on Zoom tomorrow morning!
Giving Project – Hope Mission
Greetings from the PR Committee and 2GM!
With the Christmas season upon us, we would like our CCS family to show our community how we can be Justice-Seekers! We will do this in 2 ways this holiday season.
First of all, we would like to collect new or gently used items for the Hope Mission. They recently lost many winter items due to a warehouse fire. We would like to replenish their supply by collecting the following items: coats, boots, sweaters, sweat pants, gloves, thick warm socks, scarves, toques, snow pants, blankets, and hand warmers. The PR Committee will be placing wrapped boxes in each classroom for these items. The classroom with the most donated items will receive a pizza lunch courtesy of the PR Committee!
Along with Hope Mission, we will have a Christmas tree at the front entrance of the school where students can drop off non-perishable food items that will be delivered to the local branch of the food bank.
All items can be dropped off until December 17.
Thanks everyone!!
Junior High Advent Assignment
As we strive to teach our students to be the hands and feet of Jesus, we wanted to let you know of an amazing formational learning experience (FLEx) that is going on in our Jr. High. Between Friday, November 19, and Wednesday, December 15, 2021, our Jr. High, led by the Grade 8 classes, will be gathering items to stuff stockings for residents of Salem Manor and Extendicare in Leduc. As we know, the last few years have continued to be challenging for our seniors and we know the effects of isolation and loneliness have been significant during the pandemic. Our goal is for our senior community to know that we care and that we are thinking of them. We would then deliver these stockings during the last week of school prior to Christmas to these locations!
School Clothing!!
We are once again offering school clothing for our school community to purchase! This year we will keep things simple and just have a couple of hoodie options. The order form is now available on PowerSchool for you to complete. Orders need to be in by 4:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24. Delivery will be on Friday, December 17. You MUST pay for your order online at the time of submission for it to be processed. You can order as many times as you would like. If your order is a gift for your child(ren), you can mark that in the form as well.
Front Door Buzzer
Our new doorbell system seems to be working quite well! We have now added a button in the office to allow us to unlock the door without having to come directly to the door each time. When you ring the doorbell please listen for a “click” sound, which is the door lock being released, then you can enter the building.
Monday Morning Prayer
We are fortunate at CCS for so many reasons! One of these reasons is that we have several ladies who gather on Monday mornings in our parking lot to pray over our school community! If you have a prayer request, you can email it to [email protected] and they would be happy to spend some time praying over it. In order to protect privacy, please do not include names (unless it is you or direct family).
Lost & Found
In order to continue to limit the number of visitors in the school this year, we will continue to post a photo of our Lost & Found each week in the Chronicle. If you see an item that is your child’s, please have them pick it up the next day or email the office and we will make sure it gets home with them. We will only be holding items until the next Chronicle.
Athletics:
Volleyball
As you may have already seen on our Facebook page, all of our volleyball teams came home with Gold medals from our league playoff evening on Thursday before the break! In addition to this, both of our senior teams finished first in the Edmonton Christian High School tournament on the weekend which began the break.
Congratulations to all our athletes and coaches on a well-played season! It was great to see them back in action on the court! Thank you to Mr. Schindel for all his work in live-streaming the games so parents/spectators were able to watch from afar as well!
Basketball
Basketball for junior high will begin shortly. Stay tuned for more information regarding upcoming tryouts.
In the past, we have had very strong elementary basketball teams too! However, due to the restrictions on school sports for kids in grades 1-6, we will be unable to have basketball for this age group.

Sign In/Out Form:
In an effort to reduce the amount of shared touched surfaces, we will be using a QR code that you will need to scan with your phone for signing in and out of the school. You can also use this link if you are in your vehicle and need to sign out a student but can’t scan the code. This means that students/parents/visitors can scan the QR code when entering or leaving the office/school to sign in or sign out on their own phone/device.
Parents will also be able to sign their kids out from their vehicle in the parking lot when they arrive to pick them up for appts. etc. please use the link above if you can’t scan the QR code. We do ask that parents pull into a spot (not bus lane) where you can contact the office to let them know you have arrived and we can make eye contact with you
from the staff/office door. Students must also stop by the office before leaving the school. At that point, once a connection is made, we are able to send students out to you.
