    Principal’s Message:

Today during Celebration, Mrs. Hennink reminded us about the fun that can be had “at the table.” She took us through her times at camp and a memory of her counselors doing a “helping hands” activity. She then called up Mr. Hennink to help me recreate this activity. I have added a picture below for reference. Luckily, this picture just captures the main course, before the chocolate pudding for dessert!

As I tried to mention afterward (amidst the laughing and washing of my face), the table is an important place in our lives for seriousness, spirituality, learning, and also goofiness. That the memories we create at the table are for all sorts of things. This memory was goofy, but I also hope that our students take this memory, along with the lesson we were getting across.

Food Drive/Bake Sale Hosted by 3/4CV

3/4CV is having a food drive! We have been studying about the poor woman who gave all she had to God.  As a class, we wanted to give back to God as well.  Our school theme is Stable Table, so we wanted to ensure others had enough at their table.  All donations will be brought to the Leduc Food Bank.  Please bring any of the following: canned food, sugar-free juice, pasta, rice, cereal, pet food, and personal items.  There will be a collection box in front of the office.

We will also be hosting a bake sale on September 29 from 9:40-10:10 to raise money for this worthwhile cause.  All treats will be sold for $1.00/piece.

    Terry Fox Run

On Wednesday, September 28th, all families are invited to come and cheer on CCS Students as they take part in the Terry Fox Run. This will be a whole school event that will take place immediately following our morning Celebration. We are asking each student to bring in a TOONIE FOR TERRY on run day or donate online. https://schools.terryfox.ca/5605.

    Celebration

We hold weekly assemblies, which we call Celebration. We alternate between Wednesday and Thursday mornings each month so our kindergarten students are each able to join us every other month. We will hold Celebration on Wednesdays for the month of September. All parents are welcome to join us each week!

    Lunch/Snack Needed Notifications

We have noticed a number of students have been coming to the office for extra lunch, or snacks as they do not have enough food packed for the day. In an effort to keep communication open with parents, we will begin sending home a short email to let you know that your student came to the office for extra lunch or a snack that day. As parents, you may not be aware that your student is needing a little extra as they don’t always remember to let parents know by the time they come home at the end of the day. We also know that the cost of everything continues to increase creating financial strain on families. If you receive an email notification and would like to continue using this service please just respond with a simple thank you. Please send an email to [email protected] to let us know that your child could use a little extra and we will gladly give them something to get them through the day!

    Hot Lunch

We are excited to once again offer a weekly Hot Lunch Day! This year, Hot Lunches will be on Wednesdays.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Hot Lunch, you can reach our Hot Lunch Coordinator, Mrs. Horvath, via email at: [email protected]

    Lost & Found

We will post weekly pictures of our lost and found. If you see something that is your child’s, please have them stop by the table and pick it up or let the office know.

    Athletics:

    Golf

The golf team had an awesome time participating in the golf tournament and learned a lot about the sport along the way! We look forward to being able to offer this sporting option again next year!

    Volleyball

Volleyball season is underway! We will have two teams for girls and two teams for boys! Information from the coaches is being sent home this week and the Permission forms and fees will be on PowerSchool before the end of the week. LSCE News:

    Executive Meeting Update

The first Society Executive meeting for the 2022/2023 school year was held on Monday evening, September 19. Here are some highlights from our meeting:

    • Addition update: Our addition is progressing well. The bulk of the internal infrastructure work was completed before the start of the school year, to minimize disruption to our staff and students. Now that the concrete pad has been poured, we anticipate that the external construction will proceed very quickly! We are aiming to have the addition completed by the end of November, with the conversion of the existing office space to our learning commons completed over the Christmas break (once again, to minimize disruption). Thanks as always to our Facilities Manager, Curtis Plitt, for his hard work on this project!
    • Executive transitioning: We officially welcomed our newest members, Ryan Abel (Treasurer/Finance committee liaison), Emily Barnard (Preschool committee liaison), and Deborah Olthof (Public relations committee liaison) to the Executive. Thanks again to our outgoing Executive members – Leon Burgess, Curtis Plitt, and Jason Robinson – for their dedicated service to the Society over the years. God bless you!
    • Call for new committee members!: Once again, we are putting the call out for new members for our committees. Our Facilities committee is looking for 1 more member, and the Finance committee is looking for 2 more members. If volunteering on any of our committees interests you, please reach out to our Society Administrator, Lisa Gatzke. Thanks to those who responded to our first call last month!

    Extra Apples!!!!

We have 3 extra boxes of apples from our Davison Orchard Fundraiser. If you are interested in purchasing a box, please contact Afton Goldsmith at [email protected]. We have the following boxes available:

Please click on the image below to learn more about community events in our area! Also found under our Parents menu on the website.

    Odds & Ends:

    Sign In/Out Form:

In an effort to reduce the amount of shared touched surfaces, we will be using a QR code that you will need to scan with your phone for signing in and out of the school. You can also use this link if you are in your vehicle and need to sign out a student but can’t scan the code. This means that students/parents/visitors can scan the QR code when entering or leaving the office/school to sign in or sign out on their own phone/device.

Parents will also be able to sign their kids out from their vehicle in the parking lot when they arrive to pick them up for appts. etc. please use the link above if you can’t scan the QR code. We do ask that parents pull into a spot (not bus lane) where you can contact the office to let them know you have arrived and we can make eye contact with you
from the staff/office door. Students must also stop by the office before leaving the school. At that point, once a connection is made, we are able to send students out to you.
