PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been walking with Jesus on the road to Calvary through a powerful devotional meant for Christian educators. Each reading has invited me to pause and reflect—to see the final days of Jesus’ life through the eyes of those who were actually there. Whether it was Mary, tenderly anointing His feet… or the crowds waving palm branches… or the hush of the upper room—each moment has whispered something new to my heart.

But one reading in particular stopped me in my tracks: the perspective of Judas.

We don’t like to dwell on Judas. It’s more comfortable to cast him as the villain and move along. But in this devotion, I was asked to see Judas not only as a betrayer—but as a man who had once followed, listened, learned… and ultimately stumbled in a moment of great weakness. A man whose feet were washed by Jesus, just like all the others. Jesus knew what Judas would do—and still, He knelt. Still, He served. Still, He loved.

That image undid me.

Because the truth is, Judas isn't as far from us as we’d like to think. Haven’t we all, in moments of pride or fear or pain, made choices that betray the way of Christ? Haven’t we all fallen short?

Romans 5:8 reminds us of this stunning grace: “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

It’s a love we can’t earn, and a forgiveness we could never deserve.

In a world where judgment comes quickly and lines are easily drawn between “us” and “them,” it’s tempting to play the part of the Pharisee—quick to label, slow to understand. But we are not called to cast stones. We are not the ones shouting “Crucify Him!” We are not the ones sitting in seats of judgment.

We are the ones called to reflect Christ.

And Christ chooses the basin and the towel. He chooses love. Even when it hurts. Especially when it hurts.

At school, at home, in our community—we will encounter people who stumble, who disappoint, who challenge us. And we will be those people too. But if we can be the ones who remember how deeply we’ve been loved and forgiven, then maybe, just maybe, we can offer that same love to others.

We all fall short. Every one of us. But we are not called to gather in judgment. We are called to come together in humility—not with hurt or callous hearts, but with grace. May we journey through this season as people who choose love over division, compassion over condemnation, and Jesus over everything.

Please see the email that came out earlier today for an important announcement from Mr. Simmons.
