Welcome Back, CCS!

This morning during Celebration, we were able to introduce students and guests to our theme for the year: Bright Hope, Bold Joy. Our theme is inspired by Romans 15:13:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

This verse reminds us that hope and joy are not based on our circumstances, but are firmly rooted in the unshakable promises of God.

As a school community, our guiding action to help us live out our theme in practical ways is Instilling Hope. It is our goal to be intentional about calling out the good we see in one another, celebrating growth, and sharing in the deep joy that comes from learning and growing together.

At Covenant Christian School we believe that education is about more than academics; it is about encouraging hearts, lifting each other up, and pointing to the enduring hope we have in Christ. This year, we pray that our students, staff, and families will experience God’s hope and joy in a fresh and powerful way!

We are so happy you are here.

With joy and hope,
Mrs. Haugan

We would also like to welcome another new staff member to the team, 'Miss Forsyth' the Service Dog. Ask your child what they learned about service dogs during Celebration today! (Her vest means that she is working, do not distract her).

PARENT INFORMATION

As we begin a new school year, please take a moment to review our Parent & Student Handbook, which has been designed to serve as a guide for our shared life together as a school community.

Celebration

At CCS, we gather each week for Celebration, our school-wide assembly. To ensure our Kindergarten students can join us regularly, we alternate the day each month between Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Celebration begins at 8:35 a.m.

For the month of September, Celebration will take place on Thursdays. Parents are warmly invited to join us as we worship, learn, and celebrate together as a school community.

Counselor's Corner

Welcome back to school.

What a great time of year to talk about emotions. Going back to school is often an emotional event for many. Kids especially may feel excited, apprehensive, curious, worried, apathetic, or indifferent. Most experience a mix of these emotions- often all at once. What we all need when feelings run high is a calm, trusted person to listen, comfort, and remind us that God is with us everywhere and at all times.

When all the feelings show up, it’s also a good time to help kids understand that God created us with the ability to experience emotions and that they serve a purpose in our lives. One helpful way I’ve explained this over the years is to think of our emotions as a passenger in a car. They provide valuable information to guide our thinking and choices, but they are not meant to do the driving.

When we view feelings as a form of communication, we become more curious about what they are telling us and more willing to listen and learn. While we each have our own emotions, our role as adults is to teach and model healthy ways of managing big feelings- and to remember that God created us as emotional beings who can trust Him and His Word to guide us through it all.

I hope and pray that you all have a wonderful start to the school year!
