PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Principal's Message from October 11, 2022
Also - if you spy closely, you can see Mrs. Haugan as our guest! We must have made an impact on her that day!!
Yesterday, CCS hosted almost 300 K-Gr. 6 teachers from all around Black Gold School Division, for our October PD day. While this doesn't sound like a big deal, this was actually the first in person PD that BGSD has put on since December, 2018.
When we were approached to be the hosts, my initial thought was what a great way to bring our theme to life! And that it did. I do want to thank those who were able to donate baking to our snack tables, and for our secretarial staff for playing the welcoming committee!
As people started coming into the school, I was shocked at just how many teachers have never been to our site before, and hearing them talk about the location and seeing them take pictures of the themes, murals, and student work truly made me feel proud of our school.
Just like the frog that boils in water, when you do not get to see what is going on in other schools, you can become immune to the amazing things that are going on around you! Thank you to our staff, students, and community for the amazing things that are going on around CCS. I often say it, but today was truly confirmation. We are blessed to work and learn where we do!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Parent Permission Required: Junior High Student Post-Exam Plans
As we approach exam week, we ask that parents of students in Grades 7-9 please fill out this form to indicate your child’s after-exam plan for each exam day.
Will your child be:
- Heading home with you immediately after their exam?
- Staying at school until regular dismissal time?
- Taking the bus as usual?
This information helps us support safe and smooth supervision during the week. Thank you for your cooperation!
*Additionally*
If you have indicated on the permission form that your child will be walking home during exam week, please ensure they are using the west side field route and avoiding the construction site entirely. Students are expected to follow all posted signs and directions from construction staff. We have spoken with RULAM Construction, who have shared that students have been very respectful and have followed all safety guidelines so far. However, if this changes, RULAM will contact school administration, and we will remove the walking option for all students. Thank you for your support in keeping everyone safe.

Important Notice for Parents Driving Behind the School Busses
Please be aware that when our school buses turn off Highway 2A onto Township Road 492, they are required to make a full stop at the railway tracks. This includes opening the bus door and checking for oncoming trains, which takes longer than a typical stop.
If you're driving behind a bus at this location, we kindly ask that you wait on Highway 2A until the bus has fully cleared the railway tracks. This helps ensure everyone's safety and prevents unnecessary congestion near the tracks.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
COUNSELLOR'S CORNER
“Feelings are something you have; not something you are.” Shannon L. Alder
God gave us emotions as a form of communication. Our emotions are messages to ourselves about how we experience the world, and feelings are how we express these emotions. Our emotions can reveal our perspective of events and indicate how we receive information. When a child at school experiences strong emotions that require a response, we as teachers listen. We lean in and acknowledge what is being communicated. We aim to comfort, nurture and encourage each child. We believe we have been called to this important work and that we are equipped daily as we seek God. He is working in and through us continually as we invite Him into all parts of our lives.
At Covenant, we are a staff of committed believers or apprentices of Christ. We are dedicated to loving our students and fostering a dependence on our God who meets all of our needs. The people who work at Covenant are committed to loving God first and then out of that relationship are able to love students beyond our own efforts. We are not perfect and we will make mistakes but with the love, support and prayers of a committed community of humble believers, we can achieve our goal of nurturing flourishing learners who delight in God and who are inspired to serve.
