PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

As we move through the school year, I find myself continually grateful for the incredible staff community we have at Covenant Christian School. The relationships built here go beyond collaboration—they are rooted in trust, shared purpose, and a deep commitment to one another.

Did you know that every Tuesday morning, our staff gathers for devotions—not just a reading from a book, but real, meaningful conversations where we share, reflect, and walk alongside one another? These moments are not just routine; they are opportunities to deepen our faith and support each other in ways that truly matter.

And on Fridays, as the week comes to a close, we take time to pray together. Not because it’s required, but because we genuinely want to. These moments of connection remind us that we are not just coworkers—we are a community, walking this journey together, lifting each other up, and striving to be the best we can be for our students and families.

Teaching, especially in a Christian school, is more than a profession; it’s a calling. And I am so thankful to serve alongside a staff that understands that and embraces it wholeheartedly. It is something that does not happen everywhere, and our staff are amazing and supported. We miss those who are not in the building at the moment, but that does not mean we are not connected as a team. We hold each and every single staff member in prayer every day!

Congratulations, Mrs. Hofstra!

It is with both excitement and gratitude that we share some big news—Mrs. Hofstra has accepted a new position at Black Gold Division Office as an Accounting Assistant! While we are incredibly proud of her and know she will do amazing things in this new role, we will truly miss her here at Covenant Christian School.

As our Finance Secretary, Mrs. Hofstra has been a cornerstone of our school, ensuring that everything behind the scenes runs smoothly with efficiency, dedication, and a heart for serving our community. Her impact on CCS has been significant, and while we are sad to see her go, we are grateful that she remains part of the larger Black Gold family.

Mrs. Hofstra will be working to ensure a smooth transition when the time comes, though due to job action, the hiring process for her replacement is on hold for now. In the meantime, we encourage our school community to join us in celebrating her, expressing our thanks, and praying for her success in this exciting new chapter.

Mrs. Hofstra, thank you for all you have done for Covenant—you will always be part of our CCS family! Congratulations!

Living Books Christian Book Fair

We are thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with Living Books and the upcoming Living Books Book Fair at our school!

On April 24th and 25th, we will be hosting this amazing book fair that offers a wide range of quality products, including books, Bibles, and novelties for children and families. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring incredible resources into our school community and support our students’ love for reading and learning.

Living Books is a Saskatchewan-based business that not only offers high-quality Christian books but also provides excellent support to make the book fair easy and successful. Their reps will come to our school to run the fair, and 10% of the sales will go toward free books for our school.

We're also excited to host the Adopt a Book Program on Grandparents Day, which will coincide with the book fair. This program allows families and friends to contribute to our school library, helping us expand our collection of incredible books. It’s a wonderful way to honor grandparents while building a stronger reading culture in our school.

Let’s work together to make this book fair a huge success and fill our school with books that inspire and educate! Stay tuned for more details about how you can participate.

Check out more information about Living Books and the Book Fair here: Living Books Website

Thank you for your support!

TEACHING FOR TRANSFORMATION

Throughlines

Each year at Covenant Christian School we have a school theme. This year our theme is Through. We have had many opportunities to hear from staff and students about the exciting things that are happening in each classroom. In our staff devotional time, teachers have shared on a more personal level about their connections with the Biblical truths that are represented in one or more of the Throughlines. I will be sharing a great resource next week that will help to develop a better understanding of the Throughlines.

From one of our partners at - The Center for the Advancement of Christian Education (CACE):

“Throughlines are discipleship habits and practices that form learners to transform God’s world around them. They articulate a vision for how your school’s graduates will live. Throughlines ensure the focus is not just about what the learner is to know; they propel us to educate for who the learner is called to be within God’s Story.”
