PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
If you’ve been around Covenant for a while, you know that this week is the "Spring Drama"! (Not to be confused with the typical drama for students come Spring). For those who are new to our community or returning after years away, our school play has become a significant tradition in our school culture. It is a time when our Grade 8 students are challenged to step outside their comfort zones, discover new talents, and use the gifts God has given them in ways they may never have imagined. Whether they are on stage, behind the scenes in the Gr. 4-6 choir, or supporting their classmates, every student plays a part in bringing this production to life.
This year, The Little Mermaid Jr. gives us the opportunity to explore deeper themes. One of our school’s Throughlines is Idolatry Discerning—learning to recognize the things that can distract us from God’s truth. Ariel’s story is one of longing—she desires a different life, believing it will bring her happiness. But in pursuing that dream, she places her trust in the wrong things, making choices that come with great cost. In the same way, we want our students to recognize the things in this world that can take the place of God in their hearts. Whether it’s success, approval, or material things, we are all tempted to seek fulfillment outside of God’s perfect plan.
Yet, at its core, The Little Mermaid is also a story of love and sacrifice. Ariel’s father, King Triton, ultimately gives up everything to save her, just as God, in His infinite love, sacrificed His Son to redeem us. This powerful parallel reminds us that no matter how far we wander, God’s love is relentless. He calls us back, offering grace and restoration, and invites us to live in the fullness of who He created us to be.
As our Drama unfolds, we celebrate more than just a performance—we celebrate growth, courage, and the incredible ways God is working in the lives of our students. Thank you for supporting them, for cheering them on, and for being part of a school community that values creativity, faith, and the power of story. We pray this production is a blessing to all who experience it!

Road Closure
We have recently been informed that C.W. Gaetz Road in The City of Leduc will be closed from April 8 to the end of October 2025 as they upgrade it from a rural road to a modern urban cross-section.
We know this closure will be frustrating, especially as it may impact bus routes to the school. However, the end result will be a much-improved roadway for our school community, including better infrastructure and a new 3-meter-wide walking path.
Since this road connects to Range Road 250 in the City of Leduc, the contractor wanted to give you advance notice so you can plan accordingly. Mr. Simmons has had extensive discussions with them regarding the timeline, and while the closure may seem long, it's necessary to allow for the installation of sewer, water, power, and road upgrades- all of which take time to complete properly.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as these improvements take shape!
Please see the below information to view the road closure and detour.

This agreement will be voted on by CUPE Local 3484 members and BGSD's Board of Trustees before it can be ratified, which is the final step in this process. This vote will take place tonight. We will provide further communication tomorrow, following this evening's vote.

Living Books Christian Book Fair
We are thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with Living Books and the upcoming Living Books Book Fair at our school!
On April 24th and 25th, we will be hosting this amazing book fair that offers a wide range of quality products, including books, Bibles, and novelties for children and families. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring incredible resources into our school community and support our students’ love for reading and learning.
Living Books is a Saskatchewan-based business that not only offers high-quality Christian books but also provides excellent support to make the book fair easy and successful. Their reps will come to our school to run the fair, and 10% of the sales will go toward free books for our school.
We're also excited to host the Adopt a Book Program on Grandparents Day, which will coincide with the book fair. This program allows families and friends to contribute to our school library, helping us expand our collection of incredible books. It’s a wonderful way to honor grandparents while building a stronger reading culture in our school.
Let’s work together to make this book fair a huge success and fill our school with books that inspire and educate! Stay tuned for more details about how you can participate.
