PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

As I’ve been reflecting on my time at Covenant, I’ve found myself paging through old notes, emails, and Principal’s Messages. It’s been a meaningful process—remembering moments, lessons, and people who have shaped these past 8 years. Over the next 8 weeks, I’ll be sharing a few of my favourite messages—ones that still speak to me and remind me of how far we’ve come together.

John Dewey once said, “We do not learn from experience... we learn from reflecting on experience.” That’s certainly felt true for me lately. And in Deuteronomy 32:7, we’re reminded to “remember the days of old; consider the generations long past.” Reflection has a way of grounding us—of helping us see God's faithfulness, not just in the big moments, but in the everyday ones too.

So, as we head toward the end of another school year, I invite you to walk with me through a few highlights from our journey together.

Hello CCS,
I got to take Lillian on a daddy/daughter date this weekend. It is something that she and I do every once and a while. This is something I hope to keep up as she gets older. This time we went to a tea party. We dressed up and had tea with a bunch of Disney princesses. I know that this sounds a little ridiculous (yes I was the ONLY male in the place), but I left with my face hurting because I was smiling so much because my daughter was so happy.  As I was observing during the tea party, I began thinking about our school theme: Be-YOU-tiful. These little people truly see themselves the way God sees us, and I began to wonder when it is we move away from that. This question is not easy, as so many factors go into it, although I began thinking about how we could keep that childhood innocence and see ourselves in God's mirror.

This week, that is my challenge to you. See yourself how a five-year-old sees themselves. Look passed the things society wants us to see, and look at yourself how you were created. See the beauty inside yourself and let it shine through who you are and your interactions with people. Reflect God's image and love yourself.

Mini Mall is Coming! – May 27, 2025

We hope you will join us for Covenant Christian School’s Grade 9 Mini-Mall! Our Mini-Mall has been an annual school-wide community event. It combines the Grade 9s learning in Social Studies on Economics with a fund-raising opportunity for their graduation by creating a mini-business to sell products to other students.

You can also preview items on the Mini-Mall Market Webpage HERE. You can look through the catalogue and engage in meaningful conversation about financial literacy, budgeting, stewardship, and consumerism with your child.

The students’ products will be available on Tuesday, May 27, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Homeroom teachers will be escorting children through the mini-mall at that time. Parents are also welcome to join us at the school for this event. Tickets will be purchased through your child’s Powerschool Account. Tickets are available in books of 10 tickets for $5. Most items cost between 2-10 tickets ($1.00-$5.00). No cash will be accepted or tickets refunded. All ticket purchases must be made through PowerSchool by 9:00 am on Monday, May 22, 2025. No Exceptions!
