Over the last two days, I had the privilege of joining a group of principals and assistant principals on Learning Walks through Willow Park and Coloniale Estates schools. These visits were incredibly insightful as we toured classrooms and explored how students are engaged in learning. We focused on classroom tasks, instructional strategies, learning environments, and student engagement, all of which gave me fresh ideas to bring back to Covenant Christian. From flexible seating arrangements to co-created learning spaces and innovative groupings, the experience reaffirmed many best practices while introducing exciting new ones.
What I found particularly affirming was how many of these strategies align with our own Teaching for Transformation (TfT) model here at Covenant. Observing how other schools foster social, academic, and intellectual engagement has sparked new ideas on how we can deepen our students’ learning experiences while staying true to our core purpose. The emphasis on relevance, collaboration, and inquiry in these schools mirrors our desire to see students not just meet learning outcomes but also thrive spiritually and intellectually.
I look forward to working with our staff to implement some of these strategies and continue strengthening our learning community. This experience has given me great confidence that we are on the right track at Covenant, and I’m excited to see how these insights will further enhance the flourishing of our students. Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to seek the best for our students.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Spring Production, please fill out the GOOGLE FORM (CLICK HERE) by checking off the LEAD and/or TEAM position(s) you are interested in.
Please note:
Rehearsals will take place in the auditorium every Friday afternoon with some extra rehearsals closer to the production date.

Production meetings will take place once a month until the week of the performance March 17-21, 2025.

Halloween No Costumes, please –
At Covenant Christian School, we choose not to celebrate Halloween during school hours. While we value imagination and creativity, and we understand that families may make their own decisions regarding participation, we ask that costumes be saved for after school. Personally, I appreciate the sense of community that Halloween fosters, as it brings neighbors together in fun and connection. Some of my favourite moments with my own neighbours has come from sitting on my driveway, handing out candy, around a propane fireplace. However, in our school setting, we focus on fostering an inclusive environment where all students feel comfortable, so we keep the emphasis on learning and community-building through our school programs and activities.
Celebration
We hold weekly assemblies, which we call Celebration. We alternate between Wednesday and Thursday mornings each month so our kindergarten students are each able to join us every other month.
Celebration will be held on THURSDAYSfor the month of October.
Lost & Found
We will post weekly pictures of our lost and found. If you see something that is your child’s, please have them stop by the table and pick it up or let the office know. All unclaimed items will be donated to a second-hand store at the end of each month.
Athletics:
Athletics
Covenant Christian School is once again starting up our athletics programming. It is a privilege for students to participate in extracurricular athletics. These athletics, unlike intramurals, are a representative team, meaning there can be cuts, and playing time is not always equal. With that said, participation is voluntary and not a requirement, nor is it an entitlement. Therefore, extra time and effort are required of those who participate. As a Christian school program, we are witnesses of God’s Kingdom, and our extra-curricular programs are an opportunity to showcase this. With that in mind, high standards must be maintained. Those who earn the privilege of representing Covenant Christian School in extracurricular athletics are expected to accept greater responsibilities as school citizens.
Participation in extracurricular athletics is open to all students provided they meet the general requirements as outlined in the CCS Athletic handbook, and any requirements specific to the activity of their choice. This does not mean all students who try out will make a team, but all have an opportunity to try.
Please read through the CCS Athletic Handbook, as it highlights some of our expectations for our parents and our athletes.
Catchball
Congratulations to our Grade 6 Catchball team! They went undefeated in our home tournament, and took home the banner! It was a ton of fun, and we have heard many great things about our school from a variety of schools who took part.
Volleyball
Congratulations to our Sr. Girls Volleyball team, who took home gold in their ELJHS tournament. The ladies played hard and represented the school well!
