September 3rd, The Chronicle
Each week in the Chronicle, a staff member will be sharing their Deep Hope- a personal vision of how they long to see God’s kingdom reflected in their life and work at Covenant. In the Teaching for Transformation framework, a Deep Hope is more than words; it is a guiding vision that shapes how we teach, learn, and live together as a school community. By sharing our Deep Hopes with you, we pray that our students and families will be encouraged to see God’s promises, goodness, and kingdom purposes in every part of our school community.
PARENT INFORMATION
As we begin a new school year, please take a moment to review our Parent & Student Handbook, which has been designed to serve as a guide for our shared life together as a school community.
Celebration
At CCS, we gather each week for Celebration, our school-wide assembly. To ensure our Kindergarten students can join us regularly, we alternate the day each month between Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Celebration begins at 8:35 a.m.
For the month of September, Celebration will take place on Thursdays. Parents are warmly invited to join us as we worship, learn, and celebrate together as a school community.

Deep Hopes at Covenant
The teachers at Covenant have been developing their Deep Hopes for your children and for the year ahead. These will be shared in each classroom and displayed as a constant reminder for both staff and students.
The purpose of our Deep Hopes is to remind us that our hope is not found in chance, luck, or wishful thinking, but in Christ alone. We believe in the one true God who loves us in life-changing ways, and we trust His Word to teach us what hope in Christ means for our lives.
“Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.” (Hebrews 6:18b–19)
Our partners at the Prairie Centre for Christian Education (PCCE) have helped shape our understanding of Deep Hope in this way:
“Deep Hope represents why a teacher answers the call to be an educator in a Christian school. It aligns with the desires that parents have as they enroll their children in Christian schools. It reflects the promises contained in the Christian school mission and vision statement, and points toward participating in God’s Story.”
As we learn together this year, our desire is to see God in all things—to notice His plans and purposes, and to grow in our understanding of our place as Image-Bearers. Our Deep Hopes will guide us in designing lessons and experiences that keep God at the center of our learning.
Throughout the year, you will hear more about these Deep Hopes. We also encourage you, as families, to consider creating a Deep Hope of your own for your child this year and posting it as a reminder at home.
Please note that the bus dismissal bell rings each day at 3:20 p.m. At this time, Mrs. Haugan and Mrs. Hennink will pause vehicle traffic to allow the buses to exit safely. Once the buses have left, regular pick-up traffic may continue.
Safe Arrival
To enhance our existing absence-checking procedure, we are introducing a new, more efficient student absence reporting system called SafeArrival. This new system will reduce the time it takes to verify student attendance, make it easy for you to report your child’s absence and easy for staff to respond to unexplained student absences. Here is the link for more information.
